You Are Doing Your Best
This is something we all forget:
We’re doing our best in every moment.
We just think we should be doing better....
Yesterday I spoke with a client and her sister had recently died.
She was confused as to why she was still so tired after nursing her sister 12 hours per day until the end.
“Shouldn’t I be feeling better by now?" she asked.
This is what we do to ourselves.
We use our thinking to create an expectation about being further ahead, about being better or thinner or richer or “more positive” than we are.
Then we suffer.
Grief and loss is one of those areas where I notice so many of us think we should be “over it by now."
What if we’re not in charge of that timeline?
What if we could see that when it comes to life’s knocks, it’s ok to be where we’re at?
We can live in the knowing that “Joy comes after the sorrow."
It’s easy to forget that.
But really, you are doing your best and all you can do is be in the feeling you are currently in right now. 🩷
