To Stay or To Go
Often we’re ruminating on “what to do next” simply because we've dropped in consciousness.
But when we drop, we’re seeing our lives from a quality of thought that’s not reliable.
I was just sharing this with a client the other day.
She has been in a lot of back pain but her added layer of suffering has been wondering what to do about her marriage.
To stay or to go. She really thought she had to decide.
I asked her if she would like relief from both the physical pain and the emotional turmoil, now.
She was up for it. I reminded her that the relief was not going to be found in making a decision on what to do.
(At higher levels of consciousness all decisions are obvious.)
Instead, her relief was available through a quieter mind where she was not being captured by all this “stay or go” thinking.
As we went along the session it became clear that she was in a lot of resistance to her pain and felt fearful about the future.
But then something woke up or rather, rose up, in her, and she began to see that she was in way too much “need to figure this out” thinking.
She also realised she was innocently looking at her marriage and future with a lot of urgency and pressure.
No wonder she was exhausted and suffering!
I reminded her that as long as we're seeing alarming consequences about a situation, we won't feel up for change.
The moment the pressure is gone, we will feel an inner strength and clear knowing IF there truly is a decision to be made.
My client's spirits lifted as she gained some relief from the way she'd been using thought to scare herself about the future.
That’s the beauty: We can have relief right now, through insight/realisation of the game we are playing.
Seeing beyond Thought, my client began to see she didn’t need to make any meaning or decision about her marriage from the level of consciousness she was living in.
She didn’t have to keep getting duped by the "stay or go" thoughts.
Because in the end it becomes really clear if there's a decision to be made, and it will never come from urgency and pressure. 💗
Special note: This picture is from my recent trip to Athens, Greece where I visited the temple of Athena, the goddess of wisdom.
